I help active people get back to the gym, running, and their lives — without back pain.

You used to move without thinking twice. Now you're modifying workouts, skipping runs, and wondering if this is just how your back feels now. It's not — and you don't need surgery or a lifetime of appointments to fix it.

Back pain doesn't mean you're broken.

Tight hips. A twinge when you bend to tie your shoes. Pain that flares after a long run or a heavy lift. Most people are told to rest, stretch more, or just live with it.

None of that gets you back to feeling like yourself. I build programs for people who want to keep moving — not people who want to sit still and wait it out.

Why I Get It

Dr. Tara Phaff, DPT

I'm a Doctor of Physical Therapy — and a competitive triathlete and runner who's dealt with my own arthritis and a herniated disc. I know what it's like to be told to stop doing the things you love.

I built Re-Form because "just rest" was never good enough advice for me, and it isn't for you either.

THE BLOG

A hip stress fracture became my wake-up call. Here’s how it led me to rebuild my health, heal from burnout, and create a root-cause approach to feeling better.

The Moment Everything Cracked (Literally): My Turning Point Into Root-Cause Healing

In February 2020, my body sent the wake-up call I had been avoiding.

I was limping across the clinic floor with a pain so sharp it felt like a hot knife slicing through my left hip. I had already crushed a 6 a.m. Orange Theory class, had nothing but coffee in my system, and was five patients deep in a PT mill job I hated.

I kept telling myself I was fine.

But I wasn’t fine.

That morning, when something deep in my hip gave, everything I had been ignoring finally caught up with me.

The Stress Fracture That Wasn’t Random

An MRI confirmed what I already suspected:
a stress fracture in my hip.

The doctors told me, “These things just happen.”
But I knew that wasn’t true.

Healthy bones don’t “just” break.
Healthy bodies don’t “just” shut down.

Looking back, the signs were all there:

  • Early morning high-intensity workouts

  • Coffee instead of actual food

  • A stressful clinic environment

  • No recovery

  • Under-eating without realizing it

  • Chronic inflammation

  • Hormones all over the place

  • A nervous system stuck in overdrive

My body had been whispering to slow down.
I pushed harder.
Until it had to scream loud enough to stop me.

The Real Turning Point

The pivotal moment happened quietly — sitting non–weight bearing on crutches in the ortho’s office.

When I heard “these things just happen,” something clicked.

My hip wasn’t the problem.
It was the messenger.

My fracture wasn’t bad luck.
It was the physical result of stress, under-fueling, overtraining, and ignoring every symptom because I thought pushing through made me strong.

What it really made me was disconnected.

Rebuilding Myself From the Inside Out

Crutches forced me to slow down.
Healing forced me to rebuild.

Here’s what changed everything:

1. Nourishing my body instead of surviving on caffeine

My gut finally calmed. My bloating improved.

2. Supporting my nervous system

My energy returned. My recovery improved.

3. Training for longevity — not punishment

My strength came back without constant flare-ups.

4. Addressing my hormones and inflammation

My body finally stopped feeling like it was fighting me.

Piece by piece, I became someone who didn’t live in survival mode anymore.

That fracture was the dividing line between the old me…
and the practitioner — and woman — I am now.

Why I Created Reform & Restore

My breakdown became the foundation of my breakthrough.

It’s what led me to create Reform & Restore — my high-touch functional medicine program for women who feel like their body is falling apart despite “doing everything right.”

Inside the program, we go far deeper than symptom-chasing:

  • gut health

  • hormones

  • stress + nervous system support

  • inflammation

  • recovery

  • sleep

  • strength + mobility designed for your real life

  • root-cause labs that actually explain what’s happening in your body

I know exactly what it feels like to be burnt out, bloated, tired, and dismissed.

And I also know what it feels like to rebuild — with clarity, confidence, and a plan that actually makes sense.

Your Body Isn’t Betraying You — It’s Communicating

If you’ve been feeling:

  • tired but wired

  • bloated for “no reason”

  • inflamed

  • moody

  • slower to recover

  • not like yourself

  • stuck in a cycle of pain or fatigue

Your body isn’t breaking.
It’s talking.

And you don’t have to wait for something to crack like mine did.
